Prosper the Cat enjoys National Puzzle Day

Today I am playing with the missing puzzle piece that my human is trying to find. And yes, he has a puzzled look on his face because he usually doesn’t “do” puzzles but today is an exception. Today is National Puzzle Day!

It doesn’t matter what type of puzzle you play today because no one knows who started this holiday so we can’t ask him or her about it. So if you are so inclined, pull out the cardboard pieces from the box on the shelf, spread them on your card table and go at it! (Just don’t go away, because as I’ve already said, these lovely little pieces are irresistible to a cat!)

Oh yeah, you can grab a pen (great news by the way, my human found his Monte Blanc pen that I told you about on National Handwriting Day) and a crossword from the newspaper. Or try your brain at the latest puzzle craze, Sudoku. There are puzzles of all themes, and for beginners and more advanced; even if you are a member of MENSA.

Here’s a tip for killing time, stopping boredom and getting more from your next business meeting, do a puzzle! If you are asked by someone what you are doing, tell them that today is National Puzzle Day and that you are multitasking; I am told that people like that word in business.

Until next time, I’m going to search Google for some great “cat” puzzles!

Prosper the Cat gives you a FREE HANDWRITING ANALYSIS to celebrate National Handwriting Day

I would write this to you but I cannot hold a pen or pencil in my hand. However, I love biting and playing with the pen that my human holds while he is writing on paper. I think pens are great fun and wonderful play things. The more expensive and "cool" looking (shiny; I like shiny) the more I just can't keep my paws off 'em! I love batting them around when I find them on a desk or table; knocking them on to the floor and batting them from room to room until they slide under furniture that my little cat arms can’t reach under. But there are always more pens available. (Especially since my human has a business that sells imprinted pens: www.myimprintrep.com).

But I’m getting away from the thought I wanted to share with everyone. Today is National Handwriting Day. The day was “created” by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association to of course sell more pens, but to also have people get in touch with the “purr-ity and power” of handwriting. It’s a great thing to be in touch with your thoughts and transfer them to paper with a pen or pencil. I read about this at http://www.wima.org. Also, I don’t mean to brag so much about my human (he is the one who gives me hugs and kitty treats) but I will tell you that National Pen Day is a big deal to him because he is a “Graphologist” which means he can read your handwriting and tell you about your personality. If you would like to have your handwriting analized you can get a FREE HANDWRITING ANALYSIS just by going to this webpage and following the instructions to get yours by mail (be sure to say that Prosper the Cat sent you): www.terscott.com/handwriting. And he has a really cool blog that answers fun questions about your handwriting too. You can check it out at: www.askyourgraphologist.blogspot.com.

If you are wondering why I’m giving my human all of this free advertising on my own Prosper the Cat blog, it’s that I’m hoping that he won’t be mad when I tell him that I was playing with his expensive Monte Blanc pen and I accidently knocked it into the floor vent.

Until next time, have a “purr-fect” day!

Prosper!

PS. One more shameless promotion for my human (I really hope he forgives me for losing his Monte Blanc). He has written a great book titled The Power of the Pen that he uses as the premise for his corporate training talks and fun "comic; fun with a pen" events. Check it out here. You can even read a few pages by clicking on the picture of the cover at Amazon. And, if so inclined, please leave a review. Anything that you can do to help me stay out of the doghouse. (Have you ever seen a cat in a doghouse? Not a good thing!)

Two Blonde Brownies walk into a bar... National Blonde Brownie Day is no joke, says Prosper the Cat.

Two Blonde Brownies walk into a bar… National Blonde Brownie Day is no joke! It is your right, responsibility and just good fun to eat Blonde Brownies today and all day!

These holidays can really add to your kitty waistline!

You probably know what a “blonde” brownie is; it’s more “blonde” than it’s dark chocolate, brown cousin because it’s made with light brown sugar. Who knew? It seems that humans are eating more of the brown variety and the blondes are being neglected. So get out that light brown sugar and make some blonde brownies today!

If they are Blonde Brownies, they aren't "brown" so why are they called "brownies"? Shouldn't they be called something like: "Blondies"? Inquiring cats want to know.

PS. If you are feline (feeling) kind of “nutty”, go ahead and add some nuts to these bars for some extra goodness. I’ve got to go and romp and play off some of these blonde brownie calories!

Have you hugged your cat today? Prosper the cat says it's: National Huggers Day

Hello, me again- Prosper the Cat with another great day happening.

Oh yeah, it’s National Hugging Day! It’s not really a “national” holiday because I noticed that my human had to go to work today but I found this out by walking on the computer keys today; there’s a lot of places that are celebrating this today. Why not “hug your cat day”? Aw well, I’ll keep looking for that; it will probably be sometime in the future.

Hugs are good to give and receive. I get lots of hugs. I don’t really “hug” back but I am very affectionate! Mostly I purr and rub myself against those who hug me. I found this out about hugs:
Hugs are therapeutic and hugs make you feel good inside. Hugs show that people care about you! Hugs tell you that you are loved!

If you don’t believe that today is “Hugging Day” I did some checking. It seems that years ago someone who was a “hugger” started it. Back in 1986 (you would think that someone who lived in the time of Saber toothed tigers should have come up with this; why was this so recent?) Rev. Kevin Zaborney living in Caro, Michigan woke up one morning and said: “Today will be National Hugging Day” and it has been so every morning on that day forward. (Now if a cat was there that morning maybe it would have been “Hug Your Cat Day”. Sorry, but I really think that this should be a holiday too).

Well, you’ve got some hugging to do and I’ve got some purring to do so I’ll run along.

Happy hugging!

Prosper.

World Penguin Day has Prosper the Cat dressing up for the occasion.

Today I’m wearing black and white (because my human refused to rent me a tux).

It’s Penguin Awareness Day and World Penguin Day. I’m dressed up to honor my well-grounded Penguin friends.

Hey, yes I know that a cat thinking that Penguins are cool (pardon the Antarctica pun) might be strange for a cat, because a Penguin is a bird. Give me a break; have you seen the size of these wing flippin’ creatures? These are not at all like the birds in my back yard; Penguins are usually three and a half feet tall. Archaeologists have even dug up of webbed footed fossils that were over six feet tall! That’s taller than my human!

Anyway, I like Penguins because they are always very well dressed. Even though I’m a beautiful tortie and naturally colorful, wearing a little black and white adds a little class to the evening and might give my human the idea that a little special dining might be in order tonight. Maybe he’ll surprise me with dinner and a movie. I don’t mind a little attention for this lovely lady cat with a wonderful dinner of Orijen, EVO, Wellness CORE, Nature’s Variety Instinct, or my favorite: Blue Buffalo Wild Delights. My tastes are simple. I like the best!

After a delightful dinner, for the movie we’ll watch: Happy Feet!

Until we meet again, hand me the remote.

Prosper the Cat talks about Buttercrunch Lovers Day

Hey, hey- it’s Buttercrunch Lovers Day!

Hi, I’m Prosper the Cat and I love ice cream, all kinds of ice cream.

When I found out January 20th was going to be Buttercrunch Day and found out the Buttercrunch is a type of ice cream, I sent my human to the store right away to get some!

Oh sure there are other varieties of buttercrunch delectibles too. There are treats like buttercrunch toffee bars, etc. but unless it is a treat created with a cat food crunch, I’m not interested. But I love ice cream.

I let my human eat all of the Buttercrunch ice cream and then I lick the lid. Mmmmm, I leave only the few “crunchies” on the lid (sorry, I’m not interested in the crunchy part like I already said). But I leave the entire lid devoid (devoid is a new word I learned recently. It means that the lid is totally dry with just a couple of crunchy crumbs) of this delectable yummy buttercrunch flavored ice cream. This is a great way to finish my usual cat food supper. Because today is Buttercrunch Day, you know that I will insist on having seconds; just a little more and my human can have the rest to eat himself.

For anyone reading this, my cat advice is to send your human to the store so he or she can eat lots of buttercrunch ice cream, candy; anything buttercrunch today; as long as they share with you! Your goal should be to have your human eat something buttercrunch at every meal and snack today.

Tomorrow, it won’t be Buttercrunch Day so you and your human can diet then!
