Prosper; It's all in the Name.

My name is Ter Scott (short for Terry and sounds like the “Ter” of “Ter-ry”). I make a point of saying that because unless we’ve met and you are only reading this you may think it sounds like the “ter” at the end of the word “wa-ter”.

Anyway, I fell in love with little Prosper right away; she was so small in my hand. We cuddled the first night and we are inseparable. Of course it took me a few days to come up with a name for her. I chose “Prosper” because as the Life & Legacy Coach™ I help people to live in balance and abundance; learning to prosper in every area of the “Major 8™”. You can find out more about that at at my Attainment Rules blog if interested. So when I look at Prosper or call for her using her name, I am reminded to prosper and to help others prosper.

I usually don’t count years or age with people or with cats so I’m not sure how old Prosper is in years. Since she is female, I don’t dare ask her. But she really is “The Best Cat in the World” at least to me and I sing that little phrase to her often. She is so talented and does some amazing things. I’ll share about some in future pages.

For now, if you have a cat which you love, let us know in the comments section below how you came to getting yours, its name and how you came up with that name.

How Prosper the Cat Met Ter Scott

The Adventures of Prosper, the Tortitude Cat

I thought I'd share how I and Prosper met; from her perspective.

My name is Prosper, I’m a tortoiseshell cat with an attitude. I suppose most cats are independent but us “torties” are known to be independent with an attitude; everything we do we do with attitude or we don’t do it at all.

I’ve been asked how I landed my comfy place with Ter Scott who tells me he’s the Life and Legacy Coach™ but to me he’s just a person I let live with me. Well, there’s my attitude coming out again. I’d have to say that I love him and he’s great to have around. Anyway, here’s my story mixed a bit with what he told me.

He has this friend; Deb, who loves cats. Actually she loves all animals as she used to work for a veterinarian but I suppose since she doesn’t have room for a horse in her house she settles for a few cats. Ter grew up not liking cats; probably because he got bit real bad and his arm swelled up with pain when he was an early teen so from then on that was every cat’s fault.

But both Deb and another friend had tortoiseshell cats and he found that we are a special bunch; playful, intelligent and with just enough sass to be interesting. So he told Deb that if she ever found someone who had one to let me know. He told me that even when he said wanted a cat that he really wasn’t sure if he had just lied or not.

To his surprise, Deb called him in about a week or so and asked if he was serious. He asked her if she had found a tortoiseshell and she said yes! I and eight of my siblings were up a tree when Deb’s friend happened by with her pickup truck and soon we were going for a ride to Deb’s house.

That’s when Deb saw me and called Ter. Ter came over and immediately saw that Deb had a new cat; and it wasn’t me. It was my sister (who she later named Shiraz). When Ter asked why she got another cat Deb said that it was dark and the cat walked in her house and she thought that it was me. Once in, Deb did not want to let her go. (Smart sister I got). So Shiraz has now lived with Deb as long as I’ve lived with Ter.

I walked in next. Unlike all of my other siblings, both Shiraz and I could be mistaken in the dark because our silhouettes are the exact same. We’re both the same size and long haired but she is completely black and I am a tortoiseshell. We were both very young, very small and barely got done being weaned.

So that’s how I came to come to Ter and it’s been great (for the most part) ever since. When we visit again I’ll let you know more about me and how I got my name.

Let Us Worry About The Vet Bills

I was concerned that would be the last episode of Prosper the Cat...

I had just published an entry saying that "I'm Baaaaaaaaack" for my cat Prosper (she tells me what to write and I type and publish it here). But then one day last week, she got startled and ran away! She was missing for about 3 days and I was concerned.

Fortunately a neighbor saw her and told me. I quickly went out searching. The story is in my letter to Greenies below, because they had a part in her rescue! (I'm not getting any money to tell you about Greenies but I really do think they are great).

Hello.

I would like to share a success story and thank you for your wonderful Greenies.

My cat Prosper has enjoyed them since she was young and when she hears the sound of me opening the bag or just shaking it, she comes running.

I love your product because of how it protects her teeth and overall health, but a recent occurrence causes me to appreciate you and your product even more.

Prosper is normally an indoor cat, although she loves being outside when the weather is nice. I tie her to a leash and I’m usually sitting near her. This past week when she was sunning herself I went in the house momentarily. I returned to see my neighbor walking his bike over the steps where she was under. He told me that he hadn’t seen my cat until he saw that he had scared her away!

She must have been real scared because she broke her leash and she was nowhere in sight.

Prosper was gone for 3 days and I was becoming very concerned. I told neighbors, and searched the neighborhood myself and things were looking dim. Being an indoor cat I knew she was no match for “outside” dangers.

Last night a neighbor knocked on my door saying he thought he had seen her, and heard a tinkling of a bell; asking if she wore one. That was the first good report I had up to this point. He told me where he had seen her.

It was now dark. I shined my flashlight in a small crevice under a neighbor’s house and called out for her. She meowed back! I could not see her and feared she may be stuck and that I would need to call the fire department. She seemed afraid to come out with my calling her.

I rushed back to my house and grabbed a bag of Greenies.  I called her again and this time told her that I had her Greenies while shaking the bag. She slowly crawled out enough where I could grab her and bring her home.

She’s now home and happily enjoying her Greenies every day in a much safer environment.

Thank you Greenies!
